Michal Simon was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. from a very young age she knew she wanted to work in the entertainment industry. She began her journey being involved with the theatre program in middle school. It wasn’t until after graduating high school she wanted to take a new approach to filmmaking. She got behind the lens and was very inspired by her friends and family. She began making vlogs about her social lifestyle. Michal then collaborated with her friend who was also an artist and together they came up with small artistic music video concepts for Instagram. Their subjects were their friends with creative face paint and a specific theme in mind. Michal then decided she wanted to start making short films. With all the new friends she made from the attention of the music videos she was able to get people to volunteer to participate in her films. Michal Is inspired by coming-of-age films such as Boyhood, Perks of Being a Wallflower, and City of God. These kind of films mean a lot to her because she loved that no matter how different her life was from the protagonist's, she could still see herself in them and feel what they felt when it came to growing up and finding ones place in the world.
